History

The Dodecanese islands have been crossroads of civilization for millennia—Kalymnos earned fame as a sponge-diving capital under Ottoman rule, its divers plunging 30 meters on a single breath. Pserimos remains a sleepy fishing hamlet with just 50 year-round residents, while tiny Plati is uninhabited except for summer sunbathers.

Vathi’s fjord-like harbor was carved by ancient tectonic shifts, sheltering Byzantine monks and later Genoese pirates. The “Odyssey” route follows sea lanes once plied by Minoan traders and Hellenistic merchants carrying Kos wine to Rhodes.

Highlights

  • Sail to Kalymnos, Plati, and Pserimos in one relaxed day
  • 1-hour village stroll in picturesque Vathi harbor
  • Swim stops at turquoise Plati islet and Pserimos beach
  • Greek buffet lunch with pork/chicken or vegetarian options
  • Dolphin spotting near fish farms & happy-hour cocktails

Full Description

Board the blue “Odyssey” boat at Kos harbor and set sail across sparkling Aegean waters. First stop: Vathi on Kalymnos, a serene fjord village framed by rugged cliffs. Wander pastel streets, sip Greek coffee at a waterfront café, or photograph the chapel perched above the bay.

Back on board, savor a freshly prepared buffet—grilled souvlaki, tzatziki, Greek salad, and warm pita (vegetarian: giant beans & dolmades). Cruise past offshore fish farms where dolphins often play in the wake.

Drop anchor at uninhabited Plati for a refreshing swim in neon-blue shallows, then continue to Pserimos. Relax on the sandy beach, snorkel among gentle currents, or explore the tiny settlement. Return to Kos as the sun lowers, cocktail in hand.

FAQ's

Is lunch really included and what are the options?

Yes—lunch is a full Greek buffet served around 1:00 pm on the shaded deck. Meat option: pork or chicken souvlaki skewers, Greek salad, tzatziki, warm pita, and seasonal fruit. Vegetarian: giant beans in tomato sauce, dolmades (stuffed vine leaves), same salad and bread. Portions are generous—seconds available. Confirm dietary needs (vegan/gluten-free) at check-in; the cook adapts on board. Water is complimentary; other drinks extra.

How much swimming time do we actually get?

You have two dedicated swim stops totaling 1 hour 45 minutes. Plati islet (45 minutes) is a protected cove with shallow, warm turquoise water—perfect for floating or snorkeling around the boat. Pserimos (1 hour) offers a sandy beach with gradual entry; swim from shore or boat. Ladders and crew assistance make boarding easy. Non-swimmers can relax on deck with sea views. Snorkel masks are provided (first-come basis).

Can we see dolphins and are they guaranteed?

Dolphin sightings occur on 70–80% of trips, especially near the Kalymnos fish farms where they feed. The captain slows the boat and announces sightings—have cameras ready. They are wild animals, so no guarantees, but the route is chosen for high probability. Even without dolphins, you’ll see flying fish and possibly caretta-caretta turtles. Binoculars are available on board.

Is the boat crowded and wheelchair-friendly?

The “Odyssey” is a spacious 25-meter wooden gulet with capacity for 80 but typically carries 50–60 passengers for comfort. Shaded seating, open sun deck, and indoor salon. Wheelchair access via a wide ramp to the main deck; adapted restroom available. Crew assists with boarding. Not suitable for electric wheelchairs over 300 kg. Inform at booking for special arrangements.

What if the weather is bad or I get seasick?

The cruise operates in all but extreme conditions (rare in summer). If canceled, full refund or rescheduling is offered. The boat is stable with deep keel, but open sea can have gentle swells. Motion sickness tablets are sold on board (€1) or bring your own. Stay on deck with fresh air and horizon in view. Ginger candies provided free. Children and seniors travel comfortably daily.
