Golden Rose Film Festival – Bulgaria 2025
Background & History
The Golden Rose Film Festival, founded in 1961, is the oldest and most significant celebration of Bulgarian feature films. Initially held annually, the festival showcased feature films, documentaries, popular science films, and animations, with awards for the best film, screenplay, directing, cinematography, acting, and more. After a brief move to Sofia in 1990, the festival returned to its home city, Varna, in 1994, where it continues to flourish. Known as the “rose of festivals,” it gathers filmmakers, actors, and cinema enthusiasts at the heart of Varna’s Sea Garden.
