Generali Prague Half Marathon 2026, Prague, Czech Republic
Overview
The Generali Prague Half Marathon is one of the most prestigious races in Central Europe, holding the World Athletics Elite Label and serving as a vital member of the SuperHalfs series. Known for its tagline “All Runners Are Beautiful,” the event brings together elite world-class athletes and over 11,000 recreational runners from around the globe. The race is celebrated for its breathtaking route that winds through the heart of the “City of a Hundred Spires,” offering participants a front-row seat to the medieval grandeur and Baroque beauty of the Czech capital.
The 2026 edition, marking the 26th year of the race, continues to offer a fast and flat 21 km loop that has historically been the stage for world-record performances. While Prague is known for its rolling hills, the marathon course is meticulously designed to remain level, following the contours of the Vltava River. The atmosphere is famously electric, with bands and cheering crowds lining the streets, culminating in a festive celebration that reflects Prague’s vibrant and welcoming culture.

FAQ's
Where and when can I pick up my race bib?
Bib collection takes place at the Running Expo, which is traditionally held at the VýstaviÅ¡tÄ› exhibition grounds (KÅ™ižÃkovy pavilony) in Prague 7. The Expo is open on the Thursday and Friday before the race. You must bring your registration confirmation and a valid ID. There is no bib collection on the morning of the race, so plan to arrive in Prague by Friday at the latest.
Does the course include a lot of cobblestones?
While the course is mostly paved and very fast, some sections in the historic center—particularly near the Old Town Square and the Jewish Quarter—do feature cobblestones. These sections are manageable but require a slightly shorter stride and more attention to foot placement, especially if the weather is damp. The organizers often lay down temporary mats or choose the smoothest possible path through these historic areas.
How do I use the bag drop service on race day?
The Technical Area, located near the start/finish line at Bubenské nábÅ™ežÃ, includes a secure bag deposit. You must use the official bag provided at the Expo and attach your race number to it. You can drop off your bag up to 45 minutes before your wave start and collect it immediately after your finish. The area also includes changing rooms and toilets for participants.
What is the weather usually like for the race?
Prague in late March is typically cool and refreshing for running, with temperatures between 5°C and 12°C (41°F to 54°F). However, spring weather can be unpredictable, ranging from bright sunshine to light rain or wind. It is recommended to wear layers for the start line that you can discard or tuck away once you warm up.
Are there pacemakers to help me reach a specific time?
Yes, the Generali Prague Half Marathon provides professional pacemakers for various time goals, typically ranging from 1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours 30 minutes. These pacemakers are easily identifiable by flags or balloons showing their target finish time. You can find them in the starting corridors corresponding to your expected finish time.
