FAQ's
Where do I pick up my race number and participant shirt?
All participants must collect their bib numbers at the International Marathon Expo held at RAI Amsterdam in the days leading up to the race. You will need to show your confirmation email and a valid ID to receive your packet, which includes your timing chip and official event shirt if ordered. Please note that bib numbers are not sent by mail and cannot be collected on the morning of the race at the stadium.
Is there a time limit for completing the full marathon?
The TCS Amsterdam Marathon has a strict time limit of 6 hours for the full distance, calculated from the moment the last starter crosses the line. Various checkpoints along the route have specific "cut-off" times; if you fall behind these times, you will be asked to leave the course for safety reasons as roads must be reopened. A sweep vehicle follows the end of the race to assist those who are unable to finish within the allotted time.
Are there bag storage facilities available at the Olympic Stadium?
Yes, participants can use the designated clothing drop-off areas located near the start and finish zones, although space is limited and priority is given to full marathon runners. You will be provided with a special plastic bag and a sticker corresponding to your bib number at the Expo. It is highly recommended to only bring essential items and to avoid leaving any valuables in the storage area as the organizers cannot be held responsible for losses.
Can I run with a hydration vest or bring my own drinks?
Runners are permitted to wear hydration vests, and many choose to do so to supplement the official refreshment stations provided every 5 kilometers. Each station offers water and sports drinks, while some also provide bananas and energy gels in the later stages of the marathon. If you have personal specialized drinks, these can only be handed in for elite athlete stations, so most participants carry their own if they have specific nutritional needs.
How can my friends and family track my progress during the race?
The official TCS Amsterdam Marathon App provides a comprehensive "Live Tracking" feature where supporters can follow up to ten runners in real-time. By entering your bib number or name, your fans can see your estimated location on the course map and receive notifications when you cross timing mats. This app is free to download and also includes a leaderboard for following the professional elite field as they compete for the podium.
